Traditional farmer’s garment that was worn in the wet, rainy fields of South China. It is made from woven palm and coconut fibers, several layers thick. The coat comes in two parts: the upper part is the cape and an attached lower part called the apron. These form of raincoats have been use hundreds of years in China by farmers and fishermen and were still in use during the first half of the 20th century.
